What’s on in Nidderdale

21st September 2020 (Monday) – Nidderdale Show
Taking place every September, the annual Nidderdale Show is not to be missed. Classes for horses, dogs, sheep, cattle, pigs and small animals. There are also lots of trade stands and shopping, plus brass bands and a ‘main event’ which is different each year.
Places to eat
Pateley Bridge has a number of cafes, pubs, restaurants and takeaways within easy walking distance of Riverside Caravan Park. The Nidderdale website has a full list of local food establishments.

Fountains Abbey
Fountains Abbey
One of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. Owned by the National Trust it is a Grade I listed building a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

How Stean Gorge

Nidderdale Museum
Nidderdale Museum
Discover the local history of Pateley Bridge and Nidderdale, located in the old Workhouse. The museum has a number of themed rooms and lots of fascinating exhibits, documenting the rural history of the local area from pre-history to the present day. There is a souvenir shop open during museum hours.

Stump Cross Caverns
Stump Cross Caverns
A natural limestone cave system running under Nidderdale and Wharfedale, it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and contains interesting stalagmite formations. Prehistoric reindeer, wolverine and bison remains have been found. The show caves have a restaurant and souvenir shop.
